Newsletter Vol.2

When hard work finally pays off!

Thank you for showing your support by signing up to our E-Newsletter. We are grateful for this opportunity to share our latest news with you!

To start with, we would like to give you an update on our progress over the last 6 months. Since our registration with the Charity Commission England and Wales in December 2020, we have received over £ 1,967 in donations and have been able to distribute 110 emergency food parcels amongst the most unprivileged communities in Rehoboth, Okahandja, Khomasdal and Havana in Namibia; all Thanks to the help of our donors and volunteers. We simply could not do any of this without your help!

Namibia remains vulnerable to Covid-19 and as hunger rates around the world are on the rise due to the devastating effects of the pandemic, we have seen an increase in the demand for our service. We continue to raise funds and campaign for sponsorship and with your help, we can continue to support the most vulnerable in their time of need.

We have set ourselves a target for the next 6 months to raise £5,000. This will help us to continue to purchase food and toiletry supplies at discounted wholesale prices and aim to distribute 50 food parcels every month at about £16 per food parcel. The parcels consist of carefully selected nutritious, dry, non-perishable food, some vegetables and basic toiletries to last a household for about 7-10 days.

If you are in the position to, Please help us to help them by making a donation via our safe and secure payment processing platform on our website.

Supporting projects in Namibia

As the demand for local organisations to support vulnerable families through community kitchens, feeding schemes and food parcel distributions increases, we also work with and assist local organisations in Namibia and have supported organisations such as Step Up Ark Foundation in Rehoboth with their recent fundraising campaign 'Run/Walk for Change'. The foundation focuses on helping members of their communities to become self-reliant and sustainable through their gardening and agriculture projects. They also run a feeding scheme for the children in the deprived area of Volstruisvlakte.

Supporting a charity is good for business

When you give to a charity as an individual, you support a cause that is close to your heart or personal to you. As a business, why should it be any different?

With customers and clients now being more conscious of choosing more self sustaining, environment friendly, ethical and responsible businesses to support, the same applies to donors when choosing charitable causes to support- and rightly so!
At Help4Nam we don't simply hand out free food. Our core values closely align with many social-economic problems experienced by the families we help- factors which contribute to the poverty faced by many Namibians.

If you (or your business) are looking for a worthwhile cause to support in Namibia, please, choose us!
We appeal to you to consider us for any corporate sponsorship or funding programmes that you feel may align closely with your own corporate values or mission statement. We would love to hear from you.

Feed a family for a fiver

With the colder nights setting in in Namibia now, we have put together a few, carefully selected and essential ingredients for a family to make a one pot, hearty meal this winter.

Our Bag of Hope Winter Warmer campaign is off to a good start with some very generous donations already received from families here in the UK who can relate to the comfort of having a simply prepared, quick and easy warm meal to fill hungry tummies- and that all for only £5!

Bag of Hope Winter Warmer @ £5
- 500g Rice
- 500g Lentils
- 400g Soya Mince
- 50g Soup Mix
- Stock cubes (unwrapped)
- Pinch of love and compassion
Mix together in a pot of boiling water stirring continuously until cooked and Viola! Serve!

How many Bags of Hope can you share ?

To end with today, we would like to share an adaptation of a beautiful poem; 'Unacceptable' written by a Trustell Trust food bank beneficiary. We chose this poem because it is so poignant. We do think that it is unacceptable that families do go hungry and that sadly,
it really could happen to anyone!
